
No. 20 Arizona won the first game of the series at Utah, 6-1, on Friday to improve to 35-13 overall and 16-6 in the Big 12.
The Wildcats are closer to clinching the No. 2 seed for the Big 12 tournament next weekend at Oklahoma City.
Texas Tech (49-5, 20-3) has clinched the regular-season title and No. 1 seed, Arizona is next and Oklahoma State (36-13, 15-7) is a game behind the Wildcats for third place.
Arizona can win its sixth Big 12 series of the season with a triumph Saturday at 11 a.m. against Utah (33-19-1, 8-13-1).

The Wildcats scored six runs on seven hits in Friday’s win.
Three players had two hits each. Tele Jennings drove in two runs.
Arizona scored two runs in the first inning to take an early lead over Utah. Sydney Stewart brought in the first run with an RBI single to shallow right field to score Regan Shockey from second base. Jennings hit a sacrifice fly to score Sereniti Trice for the second run of the inning.
In the third, the Wildcats scored two runs to take a 4-0 lead. Shockey scored on a wild pitch to plate the first run of the inning and Jennings hit her second sac fly of the game to bring in the other run.
Grace Jenkins scored the fifth run of the game for Arizona in the top of the fourth. Jenkins tripled for the second time this season and in her career, and came home on an error in the same play.
Arizona plated one run in the fifth to take a 6-0 lead. Shockey took advantage of a Utah error to score the sixth run of the game for Arizona.
In the bottom of the seventh, Utah walked in a run with two outs but the Wildcats were able to close out the inning with a fly out.
Jalen Adams pitched a complete game and struck out five to improve to 20-7 in the circle. She allowed six hits and only gave up one run.
