In addition to being captain, Ezra Spivey’s role in Tucson High’s 24-23 overtime victory Friday over visiting Buena was as diverse as it gets.

These are the positions he played in that game:

• Receiver
• Safety
• Punter
• Place-kick holder
• Returner

This is what he did:

• Caught two passes, including the game-tying reception in overtime.
• Completed a 27-yard pass on a fake punt for a first down.
• Ran almost 20 yards for a first down on a fake punt.
• Tackled Buena’s rusher on a 2-point conversion run short of the goal line, keeping the deficit 23-17 in OT.
• Served as the holder on the game-winning PAT by Waleed Al Jashami (and also the holder on Al Jashami’s go-ahead 38-yard FG with 56 seconds left in regulation).
• Recorded eight tackles as a safety, two of them for loss.

Buena avoided punting and kicking off to him when he was in position as a returner.
