Sean Miller reportedly will join Lute Olson as Arizona basketball coaches who served as head coach for Team USA in international competition when Miller leads the U19 team this summer in Greece.

According to a report on Zagsblog.com, Miller will take over for former Florida coach Billy Donovan as head coach of the U19 team. Miller served as an assistant last year for the U18 team under Donovan, who accepted the head coaching position with the Oklahoma City Thunder last week.

The U19 team will consist of a similar roster as least year’s U18 team that won the gold in the FIBA Americas Championship. The roster included Arizona signee Allonzo Trier and California-bound Ivan Rabb, who has signed with Cal after making the Wildcats one of his finalists.

The U19 team will compete in the World Championships in Crete, Greece, from June 27 to July 5. The team will train from June 12-26 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Olson coached the Team USA national team to the gold medal in the 1986 FIBA World Championships. The team, comprised of college players including Sean Elliott and Steve Kerr, beat a more experienced Russia team in the championship game. It was the last time Team USA’s national team won a gold medal with college players.

As coach of Team USA, Miller is in position to be considered for Olympic coaching positions in the future as an assistant or head coach. The U19 team is the oldest classification below the national team.
