It is that time of year again to compile Arizona’s productivity rating at this site, and it should be interesting with the influx of new talent on this year’s team.
The rating system is not an exact science. Ken Pomeroy, I am not. It’s only a simple barometer of how Arizona’s players are faring when comparing their overall stats to their minutes played.
The opener against Pacific on Friday night, won by Arizona 79-61, indicates the value senior transfer Ryan Anderson will have with this team. It could reach the proportions of the kind of productivity Derrick Williams had in 2010-11 (best among Arizona’s Pac-10/12 players of the year at 1.043).

Anderson had 40 productivity points in only 26 minutes for a 1.538 rating.
Starting point guard Kadeem Allen, a prolific scoring combo guard in junior college, was effective in all facets and tallied an impressive 30 productivity points in 24 minutes for a rating of 1.250.
Any rating of .500 and above shows the player is more productive than not. A rating of .650 and higher is All-Pac-12 caliber.
Dusan Ristic (.750) and Mark Tollefsen (.652) were mostly effective against the Tigers.
Other than Ristic, Arizona’s reserves — Allonzo Trier, Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Justin Simon and Chance Comanche — mostly struggled with a combined productivity total of minus-2 points in 63 minutes (-.032 rating)
Arizona’s bench outscored Pacific’s reserves by only 16-14 and it had nine turnovers to go with four assists.
It will be interesting to see how Arizona’s young players off the bench and Wildcat senior starters Kaleb Tarczewski and Gabe York (each with a .500 rating against Pacific) play against Bradley tomorrow night at McKale Center.
Tarczewski and York played well against the Tigers but they likely know their potential is greater.
