Former Arizona Wildcats player Mo Tangara, who played for the program from 2005-2008, posted a photo on his Facebook page today of him providing one of his relatives a “Beat ASU” shirt in his home country of Mali.
Tangara’s post: “My uncle the Chief of Bla, Mali got his T-shirt said beat ASU. #AZwildcatsinmali. I don’t know if ASU basketball will ever win vs U of A as long he get that T-shirts every year lol. Go cats! Great win!”
The Wildcats defeated ASU 73-60 to improve their series record to 150-82 over their arch-rivals. Arizona has won four consecutive games over ASU and is 12-4 over the Sun Devils under Sean Miller.
Tangara remains active in the Tucson community while promoting youth basketball in his native country.
The 2017 Lute Olson/Mo Tangara World Basketball Classic will take place in Tucson from May 24 to June 1. The classic will consist of four international under-16 teams. More details to come of this event, which took place last year.
Tangara has also been at the forefront of charitable efforts gathering donated clothing to take back home to Mali. Among the clothes are Arizona shirts.
