Former Arizona Wildcats forward Brandon Ashley had a good performance in Dallas’ first game of the Orlando NBA Summer League Monday afternoon.
Ashley, a 6’9″ forward, had nine points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field in 24 minutes in Dallas’ 86-76 win over Orlando. He made his only 3-point attempt.
Ashley pulled down eight rebounds and had two steals.

Ashley is coming off a season in which he didn’t play because of a contract issue with Alba Berlin, of whom he finished the 2015-16 season for after starting that year with the Texas Legends of the D-League (the Mavericks’ affiliate).
Ashley did not return to Germany. Alba Berlin owned his rights for the 2016-17 season and another team had to pay a significant fee to sign him away. Ashley worked out at home in northern California awaiting another opportunity this season.

Ashley next plays Tuesday at noon Tucson time when the Mavericks face the Pacers. The game will be live on NBA TV.
