Some of the interests: How do Deandre Ayton and Allonzo Trier match up with their fantasy numbers with some of Arizona’s greats, other Pac-12 standouts and national player of the year candidates?
With Arizona starting play in the Battle 4 Atlantis today against North Carolina State, I will be taking a look at how some of Arizona’s players of the year in the Pac-12 compare in fantasy numbers with today’s roster.

Using the same scoring system the NBA has adopted for its official scoring system, Ayton and Trier are neck-and-neck with the best average through three games.
The points distribution with the stat and its point value:
Point: 1
Rebound: 1.2
Assist: 1.5
Steal: 3
Block: 3
Turnover: -1

Notes: Deandre Ayton became the first UA freshman to open his college career with back-to-back-to-back double-doubles.He also became just the fourth Wildcat overall to tally three consecutive double-doubles at any point in his first NCAA season. … Alex Barcello’s 11 assists to zero turnovers leads the Pac-12 Conference. His assist-to-turnover ratio is so good that the conference’s stat report lists his ratio at “infinity.” … ALlonzo Trier is one of only two players in the NCAA to score 30 or more points in two games over the opening weekend. California’s Don Coleman was the only other player with back-to-back 30-point games in the first two games of the season last weekend.

Notes: Markell Johnson is tremendous with his assist production and steals. He has a 3.27 assist-to-turnover ratio and he leads the ACC with 6 assists and 3 steals per game. … Lennard Freeman joined NC State as a grad transfer from Baylor in June. In NC State debut, led team with 17 points and tied for team-high honors with a career-high eight rebounds. … Torin Dorn is team’s leading scorer (18 points a game) and rebounder (seven a game).
Here are the fantasy numbers for Arizona’s Pac-12 player of the year winners in the season they earned that honor:
[table “” not found /]Notes: If Trier (42.3) and Ayton (41.7) continue at their same rate, they would top all of these elite Arizona players in their finest seasons. … The best fantasy player who was a player of the year at Arizona is Damon Stoudamire largely because of his very high production rate of scoring and assists. … Jason Terry’s senior season of 1998-99 stands as one of the best in school history (after he finally became a starter with Mike Bibby moving on). … The average fantasy rating of all of the players is about 35.1, so the seasons Stoudamire, Terry and Sean Elliott (as a senior in 1988-89) put together were extremely phenomenal.
