The Tucson Sugar Skulls signed two more wide receivers and a defensive lineman to their roster which is now at 11 players according to a statement put out by the organization on Thursday.
Additionally, the Sugar Skulls first preseason camp will open in late January. An open tryout is scheduled for Nov. 10 at the Kino Sports Complex.
The signees are:
Jarid Brown, wide receiver, 6-0, 190 pounds. Completed his college career in 2017 as a graduate transfer at Western Illinois University after four years at Ohio University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in communication. Played in 11 games at Western Illinois and recorded five catches for 67 yards and played in the FCS playoffs.
Rusmin Nikocevic, defensive lineman, 6-4, 265 pounds. Started six games with the Omaha Beef of the Champions Indoor Football league and recorded 5½ sacks. Was named a team captain in his senior season at Texas State University in 2015 where he led the team with 6½ tackles for losses and five quarterback hurries.
Brandon Sampson, wide receiver, 5-9, 180 pounds. Played two years at Midwestern State University, an NCAA Division II school in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he played in 22 games with 33 catches for 370 yards and three touchdowns. Also played two years of junior college football at Monterey Peninsula College. Will be a rookie in the Indoor Football League.
The list of signees includes former Canyon del Oro standout Robert Metz, former Santa Rita standout Cam Gaddis and former Tucson High standout Antonio Rosales.

Open Tryout Nov. 10
The Tucson Sugar Skulls will be holding an open tryout on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Kino Sports Complex. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the tryout begins at 9 a.m. All players must register and pay an $80 fee in cash or money order. No debit or credit cards will be accepted.
Participants must provide their own cleats, shorts and accessories. The tryout is non-contact, therefore pads and helmets are not necessary. Participants must be prepared upon their arrival – no locker room facilities will be available, although restrooms will be accessible.
The coaching staff, including Head Coach Marcus Coleman, will evaluate participants in the 40-yard dash, short shuttles and position drills. Links to film and player resumes can be sent anytime to: scouting@tucsonsugarskulls.com.
Players trying out must have exhausted their high school eligibility. All players trying out will be required to sign a waiver at registration.
