Baseball’s Next Level, one of the Tucson’s premier youth baseball training organizations in its fifth year of operation, hosted scouts from various colleges Wednesday night at Sahuarita High School.
Among those who attended the showcase event for Class of 2020 and 2021 prospects were coaches from Arizona, Grand Canyon, Washington State and New Mexico. Many junior college coaches were also there from Pima, Scottsdale and Central Arizona.
BNL is comprised players who participate in five age groups — 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U and 18U. It is operated by Bryan Huie, a longtime scout (now with the New York Yankees) who is also the principal at Mission Manor Elementary and a former coach at Sahuarita.
“I am thankful for our players, our families and our community support,” said Huie, who created BNL with the parents of the prospects in mind. “This is a great event and I am just trying to support our kids and bring colleges into seeing their kids so they don’t have to leave the city.”
Recently, BNL’s 16U team went 5-0 to win a national tournament in San Diego that featured 10 of the top organizations on the West coast. CDO junior catcher Andrew Stucky, earned Most Valuable Player honors of the tournament.
He was recently selected to the AllSportsTucson.com All-Southern Arizona Baseball Team.
In that tournament, Marana junior right-handed pitcher Gabe Ridenour threw a no-hitter.
Flowing Wells senior infielder and right-hander Daniel Davila and Pusch Ridge senior first baseman and right-hander Zach Vincent participated in Wednesday’s showcase event. They have verbally committed to New Mexico.
