Arizona Wildcats’ Class of 2016 greatest recruiting needs

[tps_title]No. 3[/tps_title]

[tps_header]POINT GUARD[/tps_header]

Parker Jackson-Cartwright will be a junior in 2016-17 with a year under his belt as a primary ball-handler taking over for T.J. McConnell. Jackson-Cartwright is also be the lone true point guard on Arizona’s roster projected for 2016-17.

Incoming five-star freshman guard Justin Simon (6’5″ and 190) has the playmaking skills of a point guard but is listed as a shooting guard by most recruiting services. He figures to play minutes at both guard positions next season along with Kadeem Allen and Allonzo Trier, both of whom have the ability to run the offense but are more known for their shooting ability.

With the potential for five scholarships to be filled in the Class of 2016, Sean Miller and his assistants will try to reinforce the point guard position.

One noteworthy target is four-star point guard Markelle Fultz of Hyattsville (Md.) DeMatha High School. Arizona assistant Book Richardson is targeting Fultz strongly as the primary recruiter for his services.
