Jake Burton, El Cajon (Calif.) Granite Hills defensive end: The senior was on the losing end of a 17-10 defensive struggle against rival Valhalla on Friday night.

Bryson Cain, Temecula (Calif.) Oak Park offensive tackle: Suffered a tough 23-17 double-overtime loss against Riverside (Calif.) King

Jacob Colacion, La Habra (Calif.) linebacker: His team improved to 2-0 with a 49-0 win over West Covina (Calif.) South Hills. La Habra has outscored its first two opponents 100-7. The Highlanders’ defense, led by Colacion, has been dominant this season. La Habra held South Hills to 49 yards in the first half and has not allowed a point this season.

Michael Eletise, Honololu Kaiser, offensive lineman: A day before his team played Waipahu, Eletise wanted to think only about Arizona’s opener against Texas-San Antonio. Eletise’s team won its first game of the season and is 1-3 after beating Waipahu 60-34 last night.

Isaiah Hayes, Calabasas (Calif.), safety: One of 12 projected Division I players on Calabasas’ roster, Hayes was part of the 45-24 victory over Burbank (Calif.) Burroughs on Friday night.

Gavin Robertson, Auburn (Wash.) Mountain View, safety: He sparked the defense in his team’s 47-14 win over Tacoma (Wash.) Foss on Friday night. Robertson tallied six tackles, including two for lost yardage.

Jabari Watson, Fontana (Calif.) Summit, defensive tackle: Played a part in Summit’s “Fight for the 15” win against rival Etiwanda on Friday night. Summit prevailed 48-35.
