Arizona’s best tight end in the history of the program, Rob Gronkowski, missed what would have been his junior season in 2009 because of a strained back that required surgery.

He earned third-team All-American honors in 2008 after making 47 catches for 672 yards and 10 touchdowns, all school records for a tight end at Arizona.

The Wildcats went from an 8-5 record and Las Vegas Bowl victory over BYU to the same record in 2009 without Gronkowski, but they ended the year with a 33-0 loss to Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl.
