Volleyball: Ironwood Ridge first to qualify for state playoffs

Volleyball State Playoffs

Ironwood Ridge defeated Mountain View 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-4) Thursday night to claim the Division II, Section V title. The Nighthawks are the first team from Southern Arizona to qualify for the state playoffs at any level.

16 teams will play in the Division II state tournament scheduled to begin on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 6:30 p.m.

The No. 5 Nighthawks will host No. 35 Sabino next Tuesday and will visit No. 28 Canyon del Oro next Thursday to finish out their regular season. The top eight teams will host a first-round match while the top four will host the first two rounds if they make it that far.
