The Oro Valley Dolphins rushed for 502 yards in their 55-8 win over the Marana Broncos on Saturday afternoon at Amphitheater High School. Antonio Martinez led the team with 130 yards and two touchdowns. Jordan Thomas had 127 yards and three TDs while Charlie Allard gained 114 yards with a TD.

The Broncos had some difficulty moving the ball and gave up 24 points on turnovers. Bronco running back Prince DeBoskie picked up a quick 18 yards on the opening drive but Aaron Miller recovered a fumble later in the drive to put the Dolphins in business. Thomas would take the ball in from six yards out a few plays later to give his team an 8-0 lead after a Josue Franco kick (kicks are 2 points).

Trent Vanoni had the Broncos moving again on their next drive when he hit Joshua Roman for 30 yards on a long fourth down play but the drive stalled and the Dolphins took over on downs. This time, Thomas broke free for a 39-yard run to make it 14-0 (kick failed).

The Dolphins recovered another fumble and Martinez scored from 25 yards out movements into the second quarter to make it 20-0.

Thomas would add another scoring run of 27 yards and Martinez would break free on a 53-yard dash after another turnover and the score moved to 34-0.

DeBoskie put the Broncos on the board on a 75-yard kickoff return to cut the lead down to 34-8 but the Dolphins would add a safety to make it 36-8 at the half.

“We’ve had a tough year but we are still working hard,” DeBoskie said. “I had good blocking on my touchdown. I cut across the field because my teammates told me to follow them to that side and I cut that way and found a hole.”

Prince is the youngest brother of former Salpointe standout Kaelin DeBoskie. Kaelin DeBoskie redshirted at the University of Arizona his freshman year. Another brother, Caleve DeBoskie played for Chandler and NAU while Covaughn DeBoskie graduated from Hamilton and played collegiately at Cal and NAU.

Prince DeBoskie is considered a football prospect but the soon-to-be 13-year-old is only in seventh grade and he prefers baseball at this point. The family is considering a move back to the Phoenix area for high school.

On the other side, Martinez has already chosen his high school. His older brother Nick Johnson played baseball at Salpointe and Martinez did not hesitate to say he will also be a Lancer.

“This game felt really good for me,” Martinez said. “I came out here and wanted to win really bad and I’m glad it went that way.”

Cody Raetzman opened up the second half with a 42-yard dash to put the Dolphins up 42-8. Cody’s father, Garrett Raetzman played football for Arizona. Cody finished the game with 59 yards rushing.

Jose Zazueta added a 16-yard run in the fourth quarter and Allard scored on a 4-yard dash for the 55-8 final. Franco finished with 54 yards rushing and Dylan Dreis had 13 yards passing for the Dolphins. Besides Miller, Jesse Raymond recovered a fumble and Lloyd Johnson picked up two fumbles. Emmanuel Otuafi had an interception.

Vanoni had 30 yards passing for the Broncos and Austin Scott added 20 more. Roman had his 30 yards receiving and Jacob Rodriguez-Stofko had 12. Calum Robinson recovered a fumble for the Broncos as did Tyler Haynie.
