The state’s top three Division I teams from last year, Xavier, Hamilton and Millennium, took the first three spots at the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawk Invitational played on the Catalina Course of the Omni Tucson National.

The two-day tournament was held Friday and Saturday. The Omni Tucson National will host all state playoffs this year.

Cactus Shadows, the defending Division II state champion, took fourth place and the D-II third place team, Notre Dame, took fifth.

Catalina Foothills took seventh to lead Southern Arizona. The Falcons came in fourth place at the D-II state tournament last year.

Individually, defending D-I state champion Ashley Menne pulled away from the field early for an 8-under 135 win. The Xavier sophomore was named Arizona Golfer of the Year last year and was the only golfer from Arizona placed on the Rolex Junior All-American Team.

Millennium standout Madeleine Laux shot a 1-over 144 to take second place. Salpointe standout Alexandra Quihuis and Catalina Foothills standout Maya Benita tied for sixth place (150).

Menne shot a 67 on Friday to set the tone early and Benita was right behind her with a 68. Menne carded a 68 on Saturday and those were the three lowest rounds shot in the invitational.
