Ricky Martinez batted .361 with 28 RBI, four doubles, a triple and two home runs in 2016 and the former Badger standout signed on to play for Luna Community College Thursday night.

“We are extremely proud of Ricky,” his parents Suzette Gonzalez and Rick Martinez said. “Through all the adversity he’s faced over the past couple of years, including a major injury this past Spring while playing for Gateway Community College, he never gave up. He pushed through and worked hard and now he’s been given the opportunity to continue his education and his baseball career at Luna Community College in New Mexico. Our family couldn’t be prouder.”
