Pima Community College infielder Aciel Guillen has emerged as one of the top players in the Sun Belt College Baseball League with the Show Baseball Sluggers.

Guillen, a Salpointe Catholic graduate, leads most of the offensive statistical categories a month into the season.

He leads in at-bats (54), total plate appearances (65), runs (24), hits (21), triples (five) and total bases (38). He is tied for the lead in RBIs (17) with former Sahuarita standout Ezra Vidal, who also plays at Pima and is a teammate of Guillen’s with the Show Baseball Sluggers.

Guillen is among the top five in slugging percentage (.704), doubles (four) and stolen bases (eight). His batting average is .389 and OPS is 1.196.

He also leads the league in defensive assists with 29. His fielding percentage is .977 with only one error on 43 defensive plays.

In his freshman season at Pima, he batted .270 with eight doubles, three triples, a home run and 26 RBIs.
