Rincon/University junior Ariela Renee Trejo, the AllSportsTucson.com Division I Player of the Year for her accomplishments in the fall, has continued her impressive exploits in golf this summer.

Trejo was the top finisher from Southern Arizona in the Division I state tournament last November, placing 17th.

She finished 17th in the nation in the First Tee National Championship that ran from June 23-25 at the Finley Golf Club, North Carolina’s course at Chapel Hill, N.C.

Trejo finished with a three-round total of 229, 19 over par. She was among the top three golfers from Arizona in the event.

Ashley Shaw, of Litchfield Park, placed first shooting 200, 13 strokes better than the runner up. She reclassified from Class of 2027 to 2026 and has signed with Georgia.

Trejo’s national-level accomplishment, especially at her age of only 16, merits her the Jet Sports Training Female Athlete of the Month for June.
