GOLF: Ironwood Ridge boys win AZ Fall Preview; results from Nighthawk Invite

Nighthawk Girls Invitational

Aug. 24-25: Omni Tucson National

Xavier junior standout Ashley Menne led from beginning to end with an 11-under 132 to win the Nighthawk Invitational held at the Omni Tucson national this past weekend. Menne led teammate Breyana Matthews 66-67 after day one on Friday but Menne held steady with another 66 on Saturday for the 5-stroke victory. Salpointe standout Alexandra Quihuis and Xavier standout Bailee Tayles tied for third with a 5-under 138.

An Arizona State commit, Menne won the D-I championship as a freshman and as a sophomore. Quihuis took second in the D-II state playoffs last year.

AZ Boys Fall Preview

Aug. 24-25: Grand Canyon

Ironwood Ridge took the Charlie Beljan Division of the AZ Fall Preview held t the Grand Canyon University Golf Course this past weekend.

Individually, Williams Field standout Rylan Johnson beat Catalina Foothills standout Jake Goode 138-141 to win the Chez Reavie title and Ironwood Ridge standout Connor Wierman beat his teammate Jarrod Johnson 146-148 to win the Charlie Beljan trophy. Goode took second at the D-II state playoffs last year.
