Nogales standout Matthew Bachelier to play for New Mexico State and CDO standout Lucas Cardy for Grand Canyon

Matthew Bachelier became the latest athlete from Nogales to commit to New Mexico State when he announced his status on Thursday. A right-handed pitcher, Bachelier was 2-0 for the Apaches with 12 strikeouts to help lead the team to a 6-1 record last spring. He also batted .400 with four RBI, a double and a home run.

Former Sahuarita standout Chris Barraza and Nogales standout Kevin Jimenez will be juniors for the Aggies this year. In addition, Sahuarita pitcher Ian Mejia transferred from Pima to New Mexico State. Sabino standouts Joey Parker and Jacob Wiltshire will be Aggies in 2021. Nogales junior standouts Demetrio Crisantes and Saul Soto have also committed to play for New Mexico State as did Canyon del Oro standout Marcus Delgado.

Class of 2022 product Lucas Cardy announced his commitment to play for Grand Canyon. At 6-2, Cardy is expected to continue to develop into one of the top pitchers from Southern Arizona. He plays club for former Arizona standout George Arias with the Tucson Champs.

New Mexico State and Grand Canyon compete in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
