Pima men’s soccer shuts out Muskegon CC to open NJCAA tournament

The No. 1 seeded Pima Community College scored two quick goals and went on to defeat No. 12 seed Muskegon Community College (Michigan) 2-0 in Pool A play.

The Aztecs set the tone early in the first half as sophomore Hyeonsang Jang scored on a shot in the 12th minute. Fellow sophomore Seungeon Kim made it a two-goal advantage with his goal just outside the box six minutes later. Kim’s goal was set up by sophomore Manuel Quiroz (Sunnyside).

The Aztecs finished with 12 shots total and six were on-goal. Pima’s defense held the Jayhawks to one shot on goal for the game. Sophomore Juan Suarez (Desert View) finished with one save.

The Aztecs close out Pool A play on Monday when they face off against No. 8 Patrick Henry Community College (Virginia). Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. (CDT); 2:00 p.m. (MST).
