Tuesday night was a special one for the Marana Little League Majors division softball team as they won the District 5 best-of-three championship over Thornydale at Flowing Wells Park.
Marana earned the the title in convincing fashion winning 14-1 in five innings after it beat Thornydale 11-1 on Monday.
Marana advances to the state tournament at Queen Creek starting July 16.
The standout for Marana in Tuesday’s game was Addi Smith. She had two doubles, a single and two RBIs with two stolen bases and a run.
Addi Lee also had two hits with two runs and two RBIs.
Cadance Beck pitched a complete game and allowed only two hits with five strikeouts and two walks in the five innings.
Thornydale’s Ruby Pfau had two hits and an RBI.
