Volleyball Playoffs: CDO and Salpointe advance to the 4A Quarterfinals

No. 2 Canyon del Oro and No. 4 Salpointe won their respective 4A matches to advance to the quarterfinal round slated for Tuesday, Nov. 9. The Dorados and Lancers are the only two programs from Southern Arizona to survive the 4A-6A opening round of matches.

Canyon del Oro beat No. 15 St. Mary’s 3-0 (25-13, 25-11, 25-14) and Salpointe defeated No. 13 Younger, 3-2 (25-14, 25-14, 25-19). The Dorados are scheduled to host No. 10 Bradshaw Mountain in the quarterfinals and the Lancers are set to host No. 12 Cactus.

Bradshaw Mountain upset No. 7 Greenway in three sets and Cactus upset No. 5 Seton Catholic 3-1.

The 1A Volleyball playoffs start on Friday at Coronado High School and the 3A playoffs will be served up on Saturday at Marcos de Niza. No teams from Southern Arizona made the 2A state playoffs.

Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years.
