The successful Tucson Turf 7-on-7 football program continued to show its dominance on Sunday with three teams winning against national competition in the Battle Miami event.
Tucson Turf, directed by Toby Bourguet, captured the 14U, 15U and High School titles.
Former Marana quarterback Trenton Bourguet, Toby’s son now at Arizona State, coached the high school team along with his father.
“We came out to Florida and our middle school team won, our freshman team won and our varsity team won. So, we’re just super excited,” Trenton Bourguet told 247Sports. “Everybody knows I love coaching. I love playing too, but I love to help out my cousins, brothers and all these guys. It’s just giving back. You know, I played 7s too for the Tucson Turf. So, I’m just doing what I’m doing as a family.”
The three teams went a combined 20-1 over the weekend.
Included in the 14U coaching staff are former Arizona players Syndric Steptoe and Bobby Rodriguez.
Coben Bourguet, also an ASU player who graduated from Salpointe, was one of the coaches for the 15U team.
