CARLIE’S SCOOP: Super Bowl Sunday, Valentine’s Day & Hillenbrand Invitational

Hello Wildcat fans,

It was great to see you all at last weekend’s games. Thank you to everyone who showed up. We were able to set a record for the seventh-largest crowd at last Saturday’s game. We were also honored to have Coach Candrea throw out the first pitch for our game against Alabama. It was a special moment, and it was great to be able to see Coach again.

My niece Heather and nephew Jaxon were also able to come to last Sunday’s game and I had the chance to spend time with them afterward. It’s always special when they get to watch me play because they don’t get to come to the games that often. They love putting on their Arizona gear and coming to cheer us on. Even when they are not at the game, they are always watching us from home.

I was able to spend the rest of my Sunday hanging out with my family before I went to my boyfriend Jesus’s house to watch the Super Bowl with him and his family. We had a cookout and I got to see some of his family I had not seen in a while. I was also glad to be able to spend Valentine’s Day with my boyfriend. I was spoiled with gifts, we ate my favorite sushi, and we relaxed and had a great time together. I couldn’t have asked for a better day off.

Last weekend’s games had their ups and downs. We had some great moments and some not-so-great moments that we will learn from moving forward. We’ve been back at it all week trying to improve and prepare as a team for this weekend’s games. Our weekly preparation includes bullpens, drill work, team defense, and batting practice. Now that we are in season, we spend a lot of time watching film, working on game strategy, and mentality.

Each individual player also has their own way of preparing themselves for each week. The Hillenbrand Invitational is this weekend where we will be playing our first doubleheaders of the season on Friday and Saturday.

Arizona 11, UC Santa Barbara 1 (6 innings)

Saturday:

3:00 p.m. vs Loyola Marymount

5:00 p.m. vs Kentucky

Sunday:

2:00 p.m. vs Long Beach State
