We had as our guests the Sahuarita wrestling state championship team Thursday night at Wings Over Broadway at Camino Seco.
The Mustangs’ first state championship team in school history are coached by former Pueblo wrestling standout Paul Vasquez.
Sahuarita featured three state champions this year:
126 – Sergio Peña (47-3), Sahuarita, def. Sabian Russell, Yuma (MD, 12-3)
144 – Gabriel Gallardo (52-1), Sahuarita, def. Enzo Morales (40-6), Walden Grove (Dec., 6-5)
157 – Julian Prieto (46-8), Sahuarita, def. Esteban Carrillo (41-9), Walden Grove (Fall, 1:09)
