The Eagles will then play against Heritage Academy Laveen on Sept. 2 at the Arizona Lutheran Academy. They then play Palo Verde at home Sept. 9 before traveling to Cortez (Sept. 16) and Morningside (Sept. 23).
  • The region schedule includes three home games in the 2A San Pedro schedule. The Eagles host Tanque Verde (Sept. 30) and Willcox (Oct. 7) to open region play before playing at Catalina (Oct. 14), against Bisbee at home (Oct. 21) and then at Tombstone (Oct. 28) to conclude the regular season.
  • Joseph, a Tucsonan who is a Salpointe graduate, will be coaching his 25th season with a 171-96 career record following stints at Superior (1991-95), Tempe Marcos de Niza (1996-2001), Mesa Mountain View (2002-10) and Tempe Corona del Sol (2011-13). He has four state championship game appearances (three with Mesa Mountain View and one with Superior).
  • Much like Catalina at the 2A level, Santa Rita had a low player turnout last season, regularly playing with less than 20 players in a game. Palo Verde also had personnel problems with a lack of enough healthy players and its varsity season was canceled.
