Marana Little League standout Jayson Veit hit a home run to help lead Marana past Canyon View to capture the District 5 championship in June and he powered his way into the Little League Home Run Derby by finishing second at the West Region contest held in Seattle.
Veit hit 22 home runs in T-Mobile Park, home of the Seattle Mariners, on July 23 to earn one of the coveted eight spots at the 2022 Little League Home Run Derby held in Williamsport on Thursday.

He earned a Distinguished Service Award from Amphitheater and he was recognized by the Sunnyside School District and by Tucson City Councilman Richard Fimbres.
