Pima soccer standout Caitlyn Maher (Catalina Foothills) was named ACCAC Division II Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 2. Maher finished with five assists as the Aztecs netted 12 goals in victories over Glendale and Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Maher has nine assists on the season through nine games this season with five starts.
The Aztecs will host Yavapai at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Pima standout runner Joel Gardner (Ironwood Ridge) was named ACCAC Runner of the Week after he competed at the Dave Murray Invitational hosted by the University of Arizona last Saturday. He completed the 8000-meter race with a personal-best time of 25:08.2, taking 18th place out of 54 competitors. He averaged 5:03.4 per mile.
The Aztecs will compete in the ACCAC/NJCAA Region I Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29 at Central Arizona. The races are set to begin at 9 a.m.
