Marana (West U.S.) defeated Mexico City (Latin America) by a score of 15-4 in six innings Sunday in the opening round of the Junior League World Series at Kirkland, Wash.
Marana will next play Monday against Milford, Conn. (East U.S.) at 2 p.m. in Pool B play.
Aubriana Gray, who celebrated her birthday Sunday, hit a home run and was the winning pitcher.
She finished 1 for 3 with her solo homer.
She allowed six hits in six innings with three strikeouts and two walks.
Marana tallied 14 hits. Some of the standouts:

Marana trailed 3-2 after the first inning but went on to score at least a run each inning, including four runs in each of the second and fourth innings.
Gray’s home run to lead off the second inning tied the game at 3.
An infield RBI single by Sayre and a two-run double by Brooke Beck later in the inning put Marana ahead for good, 6-3.
Gray kept Mexico City scoreless the last four innings. She allowed only three singles in that span.
