2023 football: 50 top Southern Arizona seniors — Nogales LB/RB Samuel Ocampo


Today marks only 17 days until the kickoff of the 2023 Southern Arizona high school football season with games scheduled Aug. 18. AllSportsTucson.com is listing 50 of the top seniors in Southern Arizona during this stretch. This is not a ranking. We acknowledge more than 50 quality seniors will play on high school fields locally this fall and we will report on them accordingly.

Samuel Ocampo, 6-foot and 170 pounds, is dominant on the defensive side with 97 tackles recorded last year, including six for loss. … Also had a sack, fumble recovery, caused fumble and a blocked field goal. … He is entering his third year as a varsity starter with the Apaches. … Coaches selected Ocampo to the All-5A Sonoran First Team as a linebacker. … He had five games last season with at least 11 tackles. He tallied a season-high 13 tackles against Mountain View and Cholla. … He will be one of the team captains for new Nogales coach Joshua Jetton.
