2023 football: 50 top Southern Arizona seniors — Ironwood Ridge linebacker Colin Wilson

Today marks only five days until the kickoff of the 2023 Southern Arizona high school football season with games scheduled Aug. 18. AllSportsTucson.com is listing 50 of the top seniors in Southern Arizona during this stretch. This is not a ranking. We acknowledge more than 50 quality seniors will play on high school fields locally this fall and we will report on them accordingly.

Colin Wilson, 6-foot and 190 pounds, was one of the bright spots for Ironwood Ridge in its 1-9 season last year. … He totaled 82 tackles, including 12 for loss. … Also had five sacks and three quarterback hurries. … Coaches selected him an All-5A Southern second-team member as a linebacker. … Finished last season strong with 13 tackles against Mountain View, 11 against Tucson and 12 against Buena. … He had two sacks against Tucson and three tackles for loss against Mica Mountain.

Ironwood Ridge assistant head coach Bryant Stott (head coach Dale Stott’s son) on Wilson: “Colin Wilson was one of our better defensive players last year and probably had our overall highest football IQ. He’s since added 20 pounds in the weight room and now has the body to match. He was named a team captain due to his outstanding dedication and tremendous leadership skills. He had a knack for being in the right spot last year but this year we expect him to get there with force.”
