Sabino senior quarterback Cam Hackworth led his team to two victories to conclude August, and in the process of doing that, he became only the 13th quarterback in Southern Arizona history to eclipse 5,000 career passing yards.
For this accomplishment and his overall performance, Hackworth is the Jet Sports Training Male Athlete of the Month for August.
After his 322-yard passing effort in a win over Crismon last week, improving Sabino to 3-0, Hackworth is at 5,835 career passing years in his third full varsity season with the Sabercats. As a freshman, he was a backup to senior AJ Skaggs.
He presently ranks No. 9 among Southern Arizona quarterbacks in career yards, only 75 behind No. 8 Adriell Alvarado of Cienega (2012-15) and 80 behind No. 7 Tyler D’Amore of Ironwood Ridge (2008-10).
