Dillan Baker and Dominique Acosta earn ACCAC weekly honors for Pima

Former Nogales standout Dominque Acosta scored 49 points in three games, helping the Aztecs to two wins in those three games. Acosta opened the end-of-the-year tournament with 15 points in an 89-40 win over Bismarck State. After scoring 12 points in 35 minutes in a loss to Eastern Wyoming, the sophomore for Pima set a career-high scoring 22 points to lead the Aztecs past South Plains 64-61. Acosta recorded double-doubles in all three games and tied a season-high with 14 rebounds in the loss to Eastern Wyoming.

Former Salpointe standout Dillan Baker earned his second ACCAC DII Men’s Basketball Player of the Week award thanks to a week that included 57 points in three wins over NJCAA DI opponents. Baker opened the week by scoring 14 points in 17 minutes in a win over Bismarck State before tallying 26 points on 8 for 16 shooting in a win over No. 6 ranked Snow 83-79. The sophomore from Tucson hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 points in an 83-80 win over McLennan to finish the week.

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to win either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but collegiate and professional recognitions. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS.
