Cienega grad, Arizona standout Blaise Biringer to play professionally

Former Arizona third baseman Blaise Biringer, a Nogales native who graduated from Cienega High School, will start her professional softball career June 20 at the Hub City (Lubbock, Texas) Adelitas in the Women’s Professional Fastpitch League.

The Adelitas are a new member of the WPF, a league in its second year of existence that was founded by USA Softball, USSSA and Smash It sports.

Hub City is one of four teams in the league, which is run by B4Real Enterprises. The other teams are Smash It Sports Vipers of Oxford, Ala., Texas Smoke of Austin, Texas, and Tidal Wave of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Biringer, who transferred to Arizona after playing her freshman season at Ole Miss, became the Wildcats’ third baseman during her junior season in 2023. She started all 54 games in 2023 and played 119 games at the position in her career. She also played five games at shortstop and 12 in the outfield.

Highlights from this season for Biringer:

  • Batted .267 with 11 doubles, two triples a home run and 20 RBIs.
  • Set a career high of two doubles vs. then-No. 7 Stanford (3/29) to help Arizona run-rule the Cardinal
  • Tied her career high three hits against UNI (3/2)
  • Drove in two runs in a pair of games (vs Washington (3/16) and vs. Villanova (5/17))
  • Scored a team high of four runs in Arizona’s 14-inning win over Indiana (2/24)
  • Held a nine-game on-base streak from Feb. 16-Feb. 25
  • Had 12 multiple hit games

2023 

  • Batted .365 with seven doubles, a triple, home run and 32 RBIs
  • Tied her career best three hits twice (at GCU (4/19) and vs. California (5/6))
  • Drove in a career best four RBI vs. NC State (2/11)
  • Hit a triple vs. Texas A&M at the Clearwater Invitational (2/17)
  • Helped Arizona earn its first ranked win of the season over then-No. 8 Virginia Tech with a three-run home run
  • Led Arizona with 19 multi-hit games
  • Had a hitting streak of 11 games from Feb. 9-Feb. 23
  • Earned second team NFCA All-West honors

Adelitas are women soldiers who fought during Mexican revolutionary war efforts.

Their season starts June 20 with Hub City hosting the Tidal Wave for a three-game series.
