Kayla Tacker of Casa Grande and Deztany Toyota-Villalobos of Buena earned Week 5 Arizona High School Flag Football Player of the Year award nomination medallions because of their performances last week.
The Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission and its managed entity, the Grand Canyon State Gridiron Club, announced the honor for Tacker, a sophomore, and Toyota-Villalobos, a freshman.
Tacker, a quarterback/safety/receiver, had five catches for 137 yards and four touchdowns in a 63-6 win over Palo Verde. She also had four solo tackles, four interceptions returned for a total of 95 yards, four defended passes and two punt returns for 25 yards.
Toyota-Villalobos, listed as an athlete and running back, had three touchdowns in a 28-0 win over Desert Sunrise. She scored on a carry of 25 yards and receptions of 15 and 10 yards.
