Born in El Rosario, Sinaloa, Mexico, Horacio Llamas Grey, played for Pima from 1992-1994 under former head coach Mike Lopez. He earned All-ACCAC honors as an Aztec before moving on to play for GCU in Phoenix.
Llamas (6-11) was named NCAA D-II Player of the Year at GCU and he was named to the CBA All-Rookie Team playing for Sioux Falls. He signed a 10-day contract with the Phoenix Suns on Feb. 21, 1997 and he became the first NBA player born in Mexico to play in a game on March 2. He signed another 10-day contract and then stayed on with the team for the remainder of that season and for the 1997-98 season.
Llamas is currently an assistant coach with the Astros de Jalisco of the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP) and gives youth lessons through the Astros Academy. His Pima jersey can be found near the basketball offices at the West Gym at Pima College.
