The 2A and 3A boys soccer tournaments were announced Saturday by the AIA and one of the first-round matchups includes two Southern Arizona programs in the 3A tournament — No. 12 Tanque Verde at No. 5 Catalina.
Tanque Verde (8-5-2) and Catalina (11-2-2) will play on Tuesday at 6 p.m. They played each other at Catalina on Jan. 9 and the Trojans won 4-0.
The other 3A tournament games Tuesday at 6 p.m. involving teams from Southern Arizona:
No. 9 Chandler Seton Catholic Prep (9-7) vs. No. 8 Palo Verde (14-5-3) at Tucson High School
No. 14 Empire (10-5-1) at No. 3 Yuma Catholic (15-4)
No. 15 Pusch RIdge (6-10-1) at No. 2 Northwest Christian (14-3)
No. 6 San Miguel (10-0-1) and No. 15 Desert Christian (7-7-1) are the only Southern Arizona teams in the 2A state tournament.
San Miguel will host No. 11 NFL Yet (9-5-2) and Desert Christian will play at No. 2 Goodyear Trivium Prep (17-2-1) in first-round games Tuesday at 6 p.m.
