With the departure of Sydney Stewart and Grace Jenkins, and their combined 34 home runs, Arizona needed to add power to its lineup.
North Texas slugger Madison Conley is a strong answer to that problem.
Conley, a two-time First Team All-American Conference selection, is coming off a season with career-high totals in batting average (.377), doubles (16), home runs (16) and RBIs (45). Conley has played right field and left field or designated player for North Texas.
She posted those numbers after a broken hand sidelined her for five months during the offseason.
The Shawnee, Okla., native who will be a senior, became known for her dugout antics at North Texas to keep her teammates loose.
She celebrated like Spider-Man shooting a web, sung and wore green wigs (North Texas’ primary color) in the dugout.
“I have always been known to just get the dugout going and just be myself,” Conley told the North Texas Daily. “I wear the wigs, I wear the capes and that is not to be publicized or anything. That is just me being me and letting my energy flow through my teammates.”
North Texas finished 28-28 and advanced to the American Conference quarterfinals this season.
