Hope Hisey signs with Carolina Ascent FC of the Gainbridge Super League

Former Canyon del Oro and University of Arizona standout Hope Hisey was named back-to-back Goalkeeper of the Year by the Gainbridge Super League after she set a Super League single-season record with 86 saves while also tying for second in the league with 10 shutouts playing for Spokane Zephyr FC.

She signed with Carolina Ascent FC on July 8.

“Hope is a player I’ve admired for a long time,” shared Carolina Ascent head coach and general manager Philip Poole in a release. “You don’t earn Goalkeeper of the Year honors twice without being a special talent, and she’s consistently shown why she’s regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the United States.”

Hisey began her professional career after being selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NWSL Draft by Kansas City Current before signing with Spokane ahead of the club’s inaugural season.

Prior to turning professional, Hisey enjoyed a record-setting collegiate career at Arizona from 2019-23, where she was teammates with current Carolina Ascent captain Jill Aguilera. She started a program-record 86 matches and graduated as Arizona’s all-time leader with 366 career saves.

Lauren Rumel signs with SSC Palmberg Schwerin of the German Volleyball league

Former Catalina Foothills and Arizona standout Lauren Rumel signed her first professional contract with SSC Palmberg Schwerin. During her 2025 senior season with Oregon State, she was named to the AVCA First Team All-Region and First Team All-WCC, while also receiving recognition for her academic achievements. On the court, she was one of the league’s top players, recording 383 points in 28 matches and impressing with her consistency and strength in both attack and reception. Internationally, she won gold with the US U23 national team at the 2025 NORCECA Championships and gained further experience at national team training camps.

Head coach Felix Koslowski is pleased with the new signing: “Lauren is a very well-rounded player in terms of both attack and reception. She is joining us straight from college but has already gained experience with the U23 national team. She will play an important role alongside Anne and Jet.”

Rumel herself is very excited about the move abroad: “I am thrilled to become part of Schwerin. As someone who values a strong and supportive team culture, I look forward to getting to know the players and the coaching staff and making the most of the upcoming season. I can’t wait to play at a professional level and feel honored to have this opportunity. I am also looking forward to experiencing a country I’ve never visited before and playing in front of such an enthusiastic fan base.”
