It was a frustrating night on Saturday at Kino North Complex as FC Tucson played a rather chippy match against the FC Chattanooga Red Wolves.
Many yellow cards were pulled as both teams were jawing back and forth, even getting into it a couple of times with the officials.
Despite a late rally, and a tremendous effort from midfielder Charlie Dennis, FC Tucson lost 3-2.
Dennis came off the bench and scored both goals for his team, the first at the 61st minute and the other at the 85th minute.
“Charlie really gave us a boost of good energy. He made a good impact which was exactly what we needed from him,” FC Tucson coach John Galas said.
Dennis took a pass from Deri Corfe and and scored 25 yards to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 61st minute.
In the 85th minute, he left-footed to the goal a Daniel Bedoya free kick to tie the game at 2.
Only four minutes later, Juan Galindrez put Chattanooga ahead for good.
Goalkeeper Wallis Lepsley showed a defensive clinic with 10 saves. Chattanooga outshot FC Tucson 23-10.
The Men in Black’s record is now 2-3-2 with eight points in the standings. Chattanooga is 4-1-1 with 13 points.
FC Tucson will take on North Texas SC in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Globe Life Park.
