GLENDALE – The Section 7 Tournament was organized by the Arizona Basketball Coaches Association (ABCA) with the Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) serving as the sanctioning body. Over 300 college coaches and almost 200 teams took part in the recruiting event held from Friday, June 18 to Sunday, June 20.
The majority of the games were held in the State Farm Stadium in Glendale with Kellis High School also providing extra court space. Section 7 covers nine state in the west.

Salpointe took second place in the City of Glendale Bracket with a 64-59 win over Eaglecrest (CO) on Friday, a 62-53 win over Scottsdale Chaparral in the quarterfinal round and a 74-56 win over Viewpoint (CA) in the semifinals on Saturday. Owyhee (NV) beat Salpointe 76-58 in the championship game Sunday morning,
Catalina Foothills went 1-3 in the Diamond King Bracket. Beverly Hills beat Catalina Foothills 43-41 on Friday and Catalina Foothills beat Scottsdale Cactus Shadows 49-46 on Saturday morning. Gilbert beat Catalina Foothills 51-47 last Saturday and Peoria Sunrise Mountain beat Catalina Foothills 54-43 Sunday morning.

Cholla went 1-3 in Legacy Foundation Bracket. Goodyear Desert Edge beat Cholla 60-44 on Friday and Cholla beat Glendale Copper Canyon 50-38 in the second game on Friday. Prescott Valley Bradshaw Mountain beat Cholla 57-39 Saturday night and Cholla lost to Phoenix Arizona Lutheran 71-53 on Sunday.
Mica Mountain went 1-3 in the Legacy Foundation Bracket. Surprise Shadow Ridge beat Mica Mountain 66-49 on Friday and Bradshaw Mountain beat Mica Mountain 59-38 later on Friday. Mica Mountain beat Copper Canyon 51-49 on Saturday and Mica Mountain beat Glendale 66-54 on Sunday.

Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years.
