Sunnyside junior Audrey Jimenez added a silver medal Thursday from the U20 World Women’s Freestyle Finals to the U17 bronze medal she earned last year in the world championships.
Jimenez lost 10-0 to Japan’s Umi Ito, the 2017 U17 world champion, in the title match Thursday at Sofia, Bulgaria.

Jimenez finished 3-1 in the competition after winning three matches Wednesday to reach the championship against Ito.
Following two technical-fall victories in Wednesday’s morning session, Jimenez pinned 2022 U20 European silver medalist Natalia Wazclak of Poland in 2:48. Jimenez pulled that off after falling behind 4-0.
Jimenez is graduating from Sunnyside in three years this school year to train for the 2024 Olympics and attend college early.
Ito, three years older than Jimenez, won every one of her bouts in the U20 World Championships by technical superiority.
