Isabella Webb, a multi-position basketball player from Mica Mountain, is heading her way to a very promising future. Webb first discovered her love for the game in only fifth grade when trying an NYS team after playing ball in the yard with her older brothers for years. Her favorite position on the court is point guard. “I love bringing up the ball and being able to assess the court before executing the play and ultimately putting my teammates in the best position to score,” Webb said.
Webb’s hard work and dedication on and off the court has helped shape the athlete and person she is today. Some of her biggest accomplishments include: 4A All-Freshman Team (2022), 4A State Second Team (2023), 4A Gila Region Offensive Player of the Year (2023) and being varsity team captain for the past two years. Recently, Webb and the Mica Mountain Varsity team attended the Section 7 tournament at the Phoenix Cardinals Stadium. “I loved bonding with the new group of girls on our team this year and watching some amazing girls basketball. There were 12 courts set up in the Cardinals Football Stadium with so many teams from all over the state and even the country,” Webb added.
In their upcoming season, she is mostly looking forward to the Phoenix tournament they are attending. “It is so much fun traveling around with the team and going to compete against great competition. I’m excited to see how our team will match up and can’t wait for the future successes of our program,” Webb added. But most excitingly for Webb, she personally was invited to the Prep Girls Hoops Arizona Top 250 Expo. tournament in September. “I was super excited about this opportunity because it gives me exposure to college coaches which is important to my future. I plan to continue being in the gym and keep working hard so they will get my best when I head up to Phoenix.”
Not only is basketball important to Webb, but so are her academics. Webb has a phenomenal GPA of 4.41. With both of her parents being educators, she knew she was set to a higher standard when it came to school. “I have always enjoyed going to school because I knew if I worked hard it would allow me to become a better student-athlete which is ultimately what coaches look for,” said Webb.
Webb’s ultimate goal is to play basketball in college on a full scholarship. Both of her brothers, Thomas and Isaiah Webb played collegiate level football. While playing ball in college, Webb plans on studying to be a dentist. “I’ve always enjoyed going to the dentist and though so many people hate it, I want to make it a comfortable and enjoyable place for people rather than a hassle,” she added.
As for Isabella Webb, her greatest motivation is all of the people who support and have faith in her. “Without the constant support from friends, family, coaches, teammates, teachers, and everyone around me, I wouldn’t be able to be the best I can be every day.”
We wish Bella and the Mica Mountain Lady Bolts Basketball team the best of luck on their upcoming season!
