Bisbee senior quarterback/strong safety Sebastian Lopez completed 8 of 12 passes for 78 yards and a touchdown, carried the ball 12 times for 215 yards and three scores and also had 10 tackles and a game-saving interception in a 26-20 win over rival Douglas on Friday.
The performance, enabling Bisbee to win back “The Pick” trophy after Douglas won the previous three meetings, earned him the Week 3 APS Digital Print/Frog & Firkin Player of the Week honors.
Bisbee is 2-0 with a showdown with Eloy Santa Cruz (3-0) scheduled this Friday at Bisbee’s historic Warren Ballpark. Santa Cruz, which has outscored its three opponents by a combined 137-0, will try to subdue Lopez and Bisbee’s potent offense.
