Walden Grove junior quarterback Kaleb Layton threw for a career-high 452 yards with six touchdowns in the Red Wolves’ 72-27 victory at Sahuaro last week, leading his team to a fourth consecutive victory in their 4A Kino opener.
Layton also 22 of 26 pass attempts (84.6 percent) in the victory.
For his performance, which helped Walden Grove improve to 4-2 overall, Layton is the Week 8 APS Digital Print/Frog & Firkin Player of the Week.
Layton and Walden Grove coach Corey Noble will each receive a banner honoring his player of the week selection.
Layton, a 6-foot-2 and 185-pound talent playing his first full season at the varsity level, has completed 64 of 109 pass attempts for 1,129 yards with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions this season.
APS Digital Print is owned by relatives and close family friends of former Salpointe standout Bijan Robinson, now with the Atlanta Falcons.
