Former Salpointe standouts Treyson & Coben Bourguet part of QB training camp at Marana

Treyson Bourguet, a former standout at Salpointe along with his brother Coben, will take part in the Ground Up quarterback development one-day camp called “Under the Lights Tucson” at Marana High School on Saturday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

It will be the second year of the camp, which is designed to aid in the development of youth-league and high school-age quarterbacks.

Former Arizona State quarterbacks coach Trey Anderson, who is the founder of Ground Up, will conduct the camp along with the Bourguet brothers.

Treyson is a fourth-year junior quarterback at BYU who started his career at Western Michigan, and Coben is a fifth-year senior wide receiver at Arizona State. Their older brother, Trent, one of the most prolific passers in Marana history, completed his Sun Devil career last fall and is now an assistant running backs coach under Kenny Dillingham.

The Under the Lights Tucson event was created to help local quarterbacks of all ages train with a college-level coach, such as Anderson, and active collegiate players like the Bourguets.

“I want to make sure I can get as many of the local high school quarterbacks out there,” Treyson mentioned. “Great opportunity for me to help out as much as possible.”

Treyson is in position this fall to step into the starting role at BYU in his second year in the program after playing in 10 games with Western Michigan in 2022 and 2023.

During his Salpointe career, Treyson compiled 3,987 career passing yards and 57 touchdowns. He went 28-5 as a starter and was the 2022 Southern Arizona Player of the Year for his region.

Coben completed his senior season at Salpointe in 2020 as a standout defensive back. He recorded 33 tackles in seven games as senior.

When he was a junior at Marana, Coben had 33 catches for 557 yards with six touchdowns. He also added 53 tackles on defense.

Anderson’s background includes six years of coaching experience at Arizona State after playing quarterback at Pittsburgh and Florida International.

When he was Arizona State’s quarterback coach from 2020-2022, he worked with freshman All-American and future Heisman Trophy winner and NFL Rookie of the Year Jayden Daniels. He coached two NFL first-round draft picks — N’Keal Harry and Brandon Aiyuk — and former Green Bay Packers quarterback Manny Wilkins, in addition to Daniels.
