Baja Arizona Notes: Alyssa Brown, Jessica Hurtado and Kelsey Harshman

Former Sahuaro basketball standout Alyssa Brown re-signed with TK Hannover Luchs of Germany. Brown was named German DBBL First Team, All-Import Team and All-Defensive Team in May.

Former Amphitheater softball standout Jessica Hurtado (Bethune Cookman) was named head coach for Grambling State.

“We are excited to welcome Jessica Hurtado to Grambling State as our new head softball coach,” said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Trayvean D. Scott in a release. “Jessica’s leadership, passion for student-athlete development, and vision for building a championship-caliber program make her a tremendous fit for Grambling State. We look forward to the future of our softball program under her direction.”
 
Hurtado spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach/pitching coach at Florida A&M. In her first year at FAMU, she helped guide the program to a SWAC East Division championship and a SWAC Championship game appearance.

Former Sabino standout Kelsey Harshman was named to Team Canada once again to compete in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Group Stage 2026. The event will take place from June 16 to 20 in Prague, Czechia. Harshman helped guide Canada to a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympics held in Tokyo.

Harshman is the current head softball coach at Cienega.
