Salpointe Catholic seniors Samantha Saxon and Sophie Hannley scored a 2-under-par 35 to lead the field on Tuesday at Randolph North. Saxon shot birdies on the fifth and sixth holes for her red mark and Hannley put up an eagle on the fifth hole and a birdie on the sixth to go up one but a bogie on the eighth squared the round up with Saxon.
As a team, Salpointe beat Ironwood Ridge 154 to 189. Salpointe (1-0) travels to the Quarry Pines Golf Club on Thursday to play Marana (1-0). Ironwood Ridge (0-1) will take on Tucson High (0-1) on the same day at the El Rio Golf Course.
