Arizona held ASU to only 26.8 percent shooting from the field while setting a school record with 13 blocked shots behind the Tucson Skyline of Brian Williams (five blocked shots), Sean Rooks (three) and Ed Stokes (three). Matt Muehlebach made five three-pointers, four in the first half.
No. 46: 3/1/90, 84-58 win over Oregon
Rooks ignited a 23-7 second-half run and was one of six players in double figures for No. 23 Arizona. Rooks scored 12 of his 15 points in the second half. Matt Othick made six of seven three-pointers and finished with a team-high 18 points.
No. 47: 3/3/90, 87-60 win over Oregon State
Muehlebach had 29 points and the Arizona defense stifled 16th-ranked Oregon State and Gary Payton to earn a share of the Pac-10 title with the Beavers in the last game at McKale that season. Muehlebach (five three-pointers) and Othick (four) outplayed Payton on the perimeter as the Beavers’ star was held to only five points, breaking a streak of 50 consecutive games in double figures.
